Florida pool fence code, in plain language

Every Central Florida municipality has its own pool fence requirements, but three rules hold everywhere: all gates must swing outward, all gates must have self closing hinges, and the release latch must sit above 54 inches from the ground. Wulff Fence has installed code compliant pool fences across Greater Orlando since 2012, including Orlando proper and the new construction filling out Winter Park.

Material choices for pool perimeters

The most popular pool fence material is aluminum, because it does not obstruct the view and will not rust. Chain link works on budget conscious lots and gives the strongest performance in severe storms. PVC vinyl is also code compliant and offers privacy if your pool is overlooked by neighbors. We walk through all three on site.

Posts and the standard

Every post we set on a pool install goes 3 feet deep in concrete. Gates get hung with self closing, self latching hardware. We also handle dog runs if the pool perimeter doubles as the pet enclosure, and we weld ornamental wrought iron for high end pool decks.

What we handle

We pull the building permit, file the Notice of Commencement, and call for utility marking before we dig. If a marked line is damaged, the utility company repairs it at no cost. From new pool installs to fence repair on damaged pool perimeters, we handle the full service end to end. Read more about Wulff Fence.
